NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WRITERS' GROUPS

Launched in 1995, the above association has some 150 affiliated groups. With its own newsletter - Link Magazine - is keeps its members well informed no events, comps, etc.

   The association organises writing festivals and has free competitions. Membership is £30 plus £5 registration. See http://www.nawg.co.uk

BLOOMSBURY PUBLISHERS

Bloomsbury Publishers have a useful writers' area that may be worth a visit. Features include a reference search engine, guides for writers, lists of agents and a reading club.

   Their web directory is particularly useful with listings of groups, associations, services and magazines. Give them a try on http://www.bloomsbury.com 

GOOGLEPAGES

All you computer wizards, look away. This is for people without the time or inclination to become proficient - who live by my mantra: 'A computer is a tool, not a way of life.'

   Have you ever thought of creating your own website to put your writing online? If so, many of you will have been put off by the sheer technical knowledge required. However, when I discovered googlepages, that all changed.

   Easy to sign in, and with a page builder that requires the minimum of technical ability, you can have up to five websites and it doesn't cost you a penny. It takes seconds to choose a template, and then text and links are simple. You can even upload your own illustrations with the minimum of fuss.

   I would highly recommend the writer to have a go, and get that work you love so much online.  Log on home page: pages.google.com.  This entire site is built purely on googlepages. And I don't even known what html stands for.

 

WRITEWORDS

   This is a writers' community site. It is packed full of info on courses, competitions, etc, plus it has regular interviews with writers, and news updates.

   Log on http://www.writewords.org.uk . Full sign up is £35 a year, but there are reduced rates for reduced services. Also includes a number of blogs.
